It is honestly a unique experience piloting such a massive performance car. The AMG aspect of the car is almost forgotten when you start driving. The exhaust note, for starters, is far more muted than in other AMGs, while the driving experience is more luxurious than neck-snapping.
Someone who can afford a car as expensive as this won’t care about fuel consumption and therefore my issue with the fact that I struggled to get better than 15.0 litres/100km when I had the car, is of little importance.
The exterior is wonderfully understated yet has enough of that AMG flair to let you know that you are in something decidedly sportier than a standard S-Class. Inside is pure excess; beautiful touches abound and there’s enough technology in terms of safety and infotainment functionality to satisfy even the most demanding owner.
Most S-Class models are meant for the owner to be driven in, while the addition of that AMG badge gives the impression that the car is made to be driven by the owner who is sure to be thrilled the first time their right foot touches the accelerator and barrels towards the horizon.
