The car features the refreshed ix35 look with LED-type positioning lamps at the front, while the LED rear combination lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels and integrated front fog lamps complete the design.
The engine itself is a U2 1.7-litre turbo diesel with 85kW/260Nm, which makes it good for a 0-100km/h time of 12.4 seconds with consumption figures claimed at 6.5 litres/100km. The engine performs well in the package and certainly suits the ix35, although an automatic option would be convenient as there’s only a six-speed manual available.
As with the rest of the range, you get an infotainment system with USB, AUX and iPod ports that are accessible via the four-inch LCD touchscreen radio interface. There are also six airbags and ABS brakes with EBD for peace of mind.
The ix35i 1.7 U2 premium sells for R359 900 and comes with a five-year/150 000km manufacturer's warranty and a five-year/90 000km service plan.
