GEORGE NEWS - Police divers and members of the local fire brigade are still on the scene on the road to Voëlklip after a vehicle went over the edge of a cliff sometime between Tuesday 20 June and yesterday morning, Wednesday 21 June.
Southern Cape police spokesperson, Sgt Chris Spies, said the search for the driver of the vehicle resumed at first daylight this morning.
“Police divers as well as emergency services from George Municipality are proceeding with the search and recovery operation. A drone has also being deployed while the team is monitoring the coastline,” he said.
According to information received by George Herald, divers could not yet reach the vehicle to confirm what make and model it is due to rough seas and adverse weather conditions over the last couple of days.
The vehicle has not been recovered.
George police were alerted about the incident at about 11:00 yesterday morning. A search party consisting of various emergency services was assembled and dispatched to the scene.
The search continues.
