GEORGE NEWS - Yet another life was claimed on the notorious road to Voëlklip in Herold’s Bay as a woman recently went over a cliff in her car.
The victim is believed to be the the 57-year-old Jo-Anne Lourens from Delville Park, who went missing on Thursday 17 March after she left her daughter’s house in Geelhoutboom.
The identity of the deceased has however not yet been confirmed by police. Family members have confirmed that is Lourens. It is unclear as to when the vehicle went down the cliff.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, a member of the George community police forum, Rupert Pretorius, who was part of the search party for Lourens, came across a white vehicle at the bottom of the cliff at about 16:00 this afternoon, after which he alerted police.
“No foul play is suspected at this stage,” said Pojie.
Emergency services are still on scene in an attempt to recover the body which is trapped in the car.
