GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality is pleased to advise that repairs to the 500mm drinking water pipe which burst in Oewer Street, Tweerivieren have been completed and the valves have been opened to 30% water flow.
The integrity of the repair is being tested and thereafter the flow will be opened to 50%. It is only expected to be fully opened to 100% flow within 24 hours.
The two reservoirs serving the Eastern pipeline need to refill which process will take a few days as reservoirs have significantly depleted.
This means that it is anticipated that the network will stabilize but still be vulnerable by Saturday 27th November.
PLEASE USE WATER SPARINGLY
The municipality asks residents to continue limiting their use of water to ONLY necessities as presently the reservoirs remain low.
