A tiny, delicate baby girl, Vhutshilo Gqoyo-Muthavhi, was the first baby to be born at the new Mediclinic George.
She arrived at 13:14 on Thursday 9 April, weighing 3.3kg.
Her mum, Bulelwa, had been booked for a Caesarian section this week, but Vhutshilo had other plans.
"She wanted to open the new hospital," laughed a happy Bulelwa.
Her husband, Dakalo, had rushed her to the old Mediclinic, but she was transferred to the brand-new maternity ward at the new facility.
Dakalo said they had received perfect treatment. "We are really impressed. The staff is very friendly. Vhutshilo is our third child and also the last," said the proud father.
Mediclinic's big move from its old building to the new facility started at the beginning of the month and is almost complete.
