GEORGE NEWS - In the heart of George, a humble little shop is doing big things for animals and children in need.
Sentiara Thrifts for Tails is not your average thrift shop - it’s a lifeline for vulnerable pets and children.
At the helm of this initiative is Salomé Bruyns, a passionate animal welfare senior inspector who has made it her mission to uplift communities through education, outreach and hands-on support.
Through her registered non-profit company, Bruyns works tirelessly to assist pet owners in underprivileged areas, offering food, medical support and most importantly, sterilisation to break the cycle of suffering for countless dogs and cats.
But none of this can happen without the shop. “Sentiara Thrifts for Tails is our lifeline. Every shirt, cup or blanket sold helps us sterilise an animal, provide food to a hungry pet, or educate a family about proper care,” says Bruyns.
The shop sells gently used clothing, household items, bedding, linen and anything and everything that can still serve a purpose.
Donate
If you have any items to donate, from clothing to kitchenware, you can drop them off directly at the shop. Collections can also be arranged by contacting 076 202 0043.
“We rely completely on the support of the public. Whether you’re donating or shopping, you are helping us continue this vital work. Without this shop, we can’t keep going,” Bruyns says.
Sentiara isn’t just a charity - it’s a community effort. Together, with your help, they’re changing lives one tail at a time.
