GEORGE NEWS - Thembalethu residents came together at Jonga High School on Thursday 24 September for a colourful Heritage Day celebration that showcased the community's rich cultural diversity.
This annual event was organised by Sanco Southern Cape Region (George), and the locals joined in the festivities and celebrated South Africa's diverse cultural heritage.
Among the guests were ward councillor Sphelo Manxele, Sanco provincial secretary Makazukiswe Tshefutha and Sanco Southern Cape Region chairperson Xolisani Booi, who joined the celebrations.
The programme featured lively ingoma nomxhentso (music and dance), and local artists and cultural groups entertained the crowd with traditional performances.
The Andie and Friends Dance Group was among those who took to the stage, keeping the audience entertained throughout the day.
The guests were also treated to traditional food and refreshments following the main programme.
Event organiser Qonda Mwahleni thanked the sponsors, Henra, Mzitha Pasuya, Muzi FM, TooMuchWifi, and Hollywoodbets. He also thanked Thembalethu residents for their strong turnout and support.
He said this was the first time the Heritage Day event had been hosted in Ward 21 and expressed particular appreciation to the senior citizens who attended.
