GEORGE NEWS - A group of playful dolphins caused quite a stir at Herold's Bay on Tuesday afternoon when they came very close to shore, some of them passing within touching distance of swimmers in the water.
According to Emma Davis, who caught it on camera, there were a few people in the water, but when the dolphins arrived, almost everybody rushed down to the water and started getting in with them.
"A couple of the dolphins were really close and swam past a few times, but there was a slightly bigger pod and I think they were there for maybe 10 minutes.
"Some of the dolphins were swimming between the breaking wave and the people standing in the water.
"Some came really quite close and the people would definitely have been able to touch them. It was very exciting," Davis told George Herald.
