GEORGE NEWS - The death of Shadine Dantile (29), a young woman whose murder sent shock waves through the community, has left many with unanswered questions.
Despite the police confirming that the case has been classified as murder, Dantile's family remain without answers. To date, no arrests have been made.
Crime scene experts combed the area for clues after Dantile's body had been found in her home in Adam Street, Rosedale, on Monday 17 November. She was the mother of two young children, aged six and nine.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Chris Spies confirmed that the circumstances surrounding Dantile's death form part of an ongoing investigation and that the motive for the killing has not yet been established.
Dantile's older sister, who prefers to remain anonymous, said both the family and the community are eager for feedback on any progress on the case.
She described the situation as a continuing nightmare for the family and questioned how one can come to terms with such a tragedy, knowing the perpetrators are still walking free. She added that the family members' lives will never be the same again.
Dantile worked as a technician in the occupational department at Easy Care Health in George. She initially joined the organisation as a temporary employee and was permanently appointed on 1 November.
Concern arose on the morning of Monday 17 November when she failed to report for duty. After a colleague had attempted to contact her repeatedly by phone and text, without success, two colleagues drove to her home. They knocked and called out, but received no response. The neighbours indicated that they had last seen her on the Saturday.
The colleagues also went to the hospital to check whether she had been admitted. Upon returning to work, they were informed that Dantile had been found dead in her home.
The case docket is currently with the George detectives, and the public is urged to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.
