PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A 27-year-old Gauteng man has been sentenced in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate’s Court to seven years imprisonment for dealing in drugs.
Themba Ndimandi was found guilty on Tuesday 9 September following his arrest in November 2024 in George in connection with drugs with an estimated value of R600 000.
According to a statement released by the office of the Western Cape police commissioner, police responded at about 21:00 on Friday 15 November 2024 to information about two vehicles entering George with a consignment of drugs.
The information was conveyed to police vehicles patrolling the area and Conville crime prevention unit members responded.
The vehicles were pulled over in the industrial area in George.
Confiscated
A search of both vehicles ensued and police members found the drug stash on the back seat of the Volkswagen Polo, concealed in two 10kg bags of potatoes, 25kg bags of maize meal and a 10kg bag of onions.
Police confiscated 12 219 Mandrax tablets and arrested two men, both from Gauteng, in connection with the discovery.
Ndimandi’s accomplice (45), who remains in custody, is scheduled to appear in court on 14 October, also on a charge of dealing in drugs.
Western Cape provincial detectives (narcotics section) based in George are investigating this matter, said the statement.
