GEORGE NEWS - The former law enforcer from George, Melvin Jacobs (41), who was arrested in possession of a stash of drugs on Sunday 9 February, was granted bail of R30 000 in the George Magistrate’s Court last Friday, 21 February. The arrest took place on the N2 just outside George.
The woman with him, Liezel Stalmeester (23), who was also arrested, was released on bail of R5 000.

Southern Cape police spokesperson, Capt Malcolm Pojie, said the two suspects were nabbed when a suspicious vehicle was spotted during a joint operation on the highway.
"The car was pulled off, searched and 372g of tik with a street value of R120 000 was found under the seat. They were travelling from Port Elizabeth to George."
Four laptops were also found in their possession.
