GEORGE NEWS - Members of Sentiara, a local non-profit animal welfare organisation, rescued a young puppy from an illegal dumping site on Potgieters Farm, behind Thembalethu, during a routine feeding run.
The team noticed the puppy scavenging on the dump and initially believed she was eating discarded food. On closer inspection, they discovered she was feeding on the carcass of another dead puppy.
The puppy, later named Gabby, was extremely nervous but was safely secured after the team patiently gained her trust. She was loaded into the vehicle without incident.
Gabby has been in Sentiara’s care for nearly two weeks and is doing well. She is playful, gentle, and comfortable around people. She enjoys carrying shoes to her basket and shows no destructive behaviour.
Gabby is now available for adoption. Anyone interested in adopting her is encouraged to contact Sentiara for more information.
