GEORGE NEWS - The local taxi association, Uncedo, is organising a peaceful march this Wednesday 13 November to address concerns regarding operating permits and impoundment of their vehicles.
The march will begin at 07:30 from Fourways in Thembalethu, with participants proceeding along Nelson Mandela Boulevard to George Municipality in York Street, where they will present a memorandum.
Afterwards, the marchers will continue to the provincial traffic offices, also located on York Street.
Uncedo has requested Thembalethu residents make alternative transport arrangements on Wednesday morning, as no taxis will be operating until after the march.
"We want to minimise disruptions and encourage residents to leave Thembalethu early," the association stated.
"Taxis will resume operations after the march, and all community members are welcome to join. Transportation will be available from the provincial traffic offices after the event."
