For the first time passengers in certain parts of George started travelling by bus instead of taxi to their usual destinations.
Some travellers from Rosemoor were a bit annoyed as they did not realise that there is no bus travelling directly from the area to the CBD. Passengers have to disembark at Mission Street and hop on another bus from the Garden Route Mall to get to the centre of town. Some irate passengers even forced a bus driver to divert from his route between Rosemoor and the mall and take them to the CBD instead.
Most passengers were full of praise and arrived at their various places of work with time to spare.
George Mayor Charles Standers, who was on a bus at 06:00 himself, apologised to those employers whose employees arrived late saying they plan to get rid of the growing pains as soon as possible.
Other GO GEORGE role-players and officials were also travelling on buses on the various routes to identify problems and to ensure the future smooth running of the new bus routes.
