GEORGE NEWS - The popular parkrun will take place again tomorrow at the Garden Route Botanical Gardens in George. It was cancelled last week due to the raging fires in the area.
Minke Stanley, coordinator of the parkrun, told the George Herald it is safe to run but participants must stay on the route. The route was damaged in two places, but volunteers helped to clean the route.
The parkrun will start at 08:00 on Saturday (10 November). Participants are more than welcome.
In the meantime it seems that hikers will have to be patient regarding the use of some of the hiking-routes in the area.
Nandi Mgwadlamba, spokersperson of SANParks, said the Outeniqua-trail is still closed. It will most likely not be ready in December and possibly only open next year.

The Diep Walle-trail is also closed because of smoke. When the smokes lifts, it will possibly open. An announcement will be made in this regard.
The biggest part of the Otter-trial is open. Day 1 is open but day two is closed. Hikers are met by parkrangers after day 1, and taken by an escape route to the rest of the trail.
