GEORGE NEWS - One person was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after a fatal car accident in the Kaaimans Pass last night, Thursday 13 March.
According to Southern Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Chris Spies, a culpable homicide docket was opened following the death of a 38-year-old man on the N2 in Kaaimans Pass at about 20:40.
"Preliminary reports available suggest police were dispatched to the scene following a collision between a Volkswagen Polo and Toyota Hilux bakkie. On arrival, they found the vehicles and a man who had sustained serious injuries," says Spies.
Paramedics later declared the driver of the Polo deceased on the scene.
A man believed to be the driver of the Hilux bakkie was taken into custody on the scene.
More information will be made available as the investigation unfolds.
