GEORGE NEWS - Dr Nicholas Proctor (40) who matriculated at York High in George in 2001, has been found murdered in Mbombela (Nelspruit) in Mpumalanga yesterday afternoon, Thursday 1 February.
According to George Herald’s sister publication, Lowvelder, the Mbombela anaesthetist was reported missing on Thursday morning, but the search for Procter ended in tragedy on Thursday afternoon when his body was found in a flat in Mbombela at about 16:00.
Lowvelder contacted Procter’s family for comment, and although they confirmed his death, have not yet been to officially identify the body, and could not provide any further details or comment.
Procter was reported missing when he did not shown up for work on Thursday morning. His vehicle was found later yesterday morning, parked on the Elawini bridge.
Lowvelder reports that searches by the Nelspruit police, the White River Flying Squad, the Ehlanzeni Police Diving Unit, SARZA Lowveld, ER24 and local security companies began around the bridge, the Nels River and surrounding bushes.
By 12:00, the search around the river was called off, and the Nelspruit police, the flying squad and AG Solutions continued a new search around various areas in Mbombela.
Information led the authorities to a flat on a property near the Elawini bridge, where the body was found. Captain Magonseni Nkosi told Lowvelder that no arrests have yet been made, however, the police are confident they will make one soon. He said investigations are ongoing.
Judging by the photos Proctor posted on his Facebook page, he was an adventurous, outdoor activities enthusiast.
This is a developing story.
