GEORGE NEWS - The George-based Serious Organised Crime Investigation team (Hawks) arrested a 27-year-old suspect for trafficking in persons yesterday, 24 March.
This came after information was received about a possible victim of trafficking in Oudtshoorn.
Meticulous investigation brought to light that the victim was lured fron Egypt to South Africa on a promise of employment by the suspect.
When he arrived in South Africa, his travel documents were confiscated by the suspect and he allegedly had to work without getting paid.
It is alleged that he was also assaulted.
The arrest was executed after a warrant of arrest was issued.
The suspect will make his first court appearance in Oudtshoorn today, 25 March.
