GEORGE NEWS - Mark your calendars! The George Lions Club will be hosting its Lions Club Market Day on 2 November and everyone is invited.

The day promises to be packed with entertainment, market stalls, children's activities, competitions and much more. 

With a wide variety of arts, crafts, and food stalls, there will be something for everyone. All proceeds go to the Lions to use in its community support initiatives.

Singing competition

If you love singing, here's your chance to shine during the singing competition on Market Day. Entries are open to everyone. 

The winner will receive a R1 000 hamper, a certificate, and the opportunity to be the opening act for their Mandjie Dans event.

How to enter:

Send a WhatsApp video of your singing entry to 081 374 2059. Entry fee is R50 per video and all proceeds will go to the George Lions Club.

Video entries close on 25 October and the top 10 finalists will be announced on 28 October.

Finalists will perform live in front of the judges on Market Day from 14:00 to 16:00.

Potjiekos competition

If you think you have what it takes to be the master potjiekos cook, then enter the potjiekos competition. Entries cost R200 for a team of four people. 

Judging will be for the best pot, team spirit, originality and presentation, and the overall best potjie.
