GEORGE NEWS - Three firefighters of the Garden Route District Municipality were honoured in Council on Tuesday for their outstanding performance in the Toughest Firefighter Alive competition.
This yearly event was held in September in Cape Town.
Senior firefighter Emile Conrad proved he has what it takes with his fifth consecutive win, reaping the overall award as Toughest Firefighter Alive.
Station officer Deon Stoffels received a second place in the category for men aged between 35 and 39, and the relay team took a third place.
The members of the relay team were Emile Conrad, Deon Stoffels, David van Niekerk and Edwin Lottering.
Garden Route District Municipality officials and councillors congratulated the firefighters on their achievements.
