GEORGE NEWS - A group of members of Wing Riders SA from across the country are spending the week in George and Mossel Bay doing outrides with their spectacular collection of Honda Gold Wings.
An exhibition of 33 of these motorcycles drew public interest this morning, Wednesday 14 October, at Paddagat shopping centre in George where the judging of the Garden Route Motorcycles (GRM) Concours d’Élégance took place.
The competition is part of the week’s events for the guests organised by two members of the Garden Route Chapter of Wing Riders SA, Irene Henning and Elise van der Merwe, the vice-president.
This morning, judges had to make the difficult decision on which is the most beautiful bike among them all and the public could also vote for their choice.
The winners will be announced at a gala evening tomorrow night.
The riders, who are staying over in Hartenbos, will enjoy an outride to Buffelsdrift tomorrow (Thursday 15 October) and on Friday they are holding a charity run in aid of Oudtshoorn Dogs in Need (Odn) to Klipheuwel at Klein-Brak.
“Yesterday we rode to Jakkalsvlei wine farm and on Monday we enjoyed a train ride. The week’s events conclude on Saturday when everyone will be heading home,” said Van der Merwe.
