GEORGE NEWS - The South African Police Services Excellence Awards for the Western Cape were held in Cape Town on Saturday evening, 11 November. In a night of celebration and recognition, the Garden Route’s police stations stood out, nabbing several prestigious awards across various categories.
George proudly secured the title of the "Best Station in WC" in the level 13 Brigadier category, a commendable achievement attributed to the leadership of Brigadier N Michaels and the dedication of the station's members.
Knysna also shone brightly, being honoured as the "Best Station in the WC" in the Colonel Station category. Congratulations were extended to Colonel De Wet, the station's management and its members for their outstanding accomplishment.
The Garden Route Flying Squad had a momentous win, earning the coveted "Catch of the Year" award. This accolade was rightfully awarded to Sgt Muller and WO Kennard for their exceptional contributions.
Albertinia Police was recognised for its commitment to serving their community, receiving the "Rural Station of the Year" award.
Ladismith's Vispol team stood out as the "Vispol Team of the Year" for their dedication and excellence in ensuring public safety.
Riversdale claimed the title of "Reservist of the Year," underscoring the vital role reservists play in supporting the regular police service.
AC Kohliwe of Da Gamaskop was named the "SAPS Woman of the Year," a well-deserved acknowledgment of her exceptional contributions to the police service.
In the sphere of community engagement, Kwanonqaba secured the position of the "CPF second runner-up," reflecting their commitment to fostering strong ties between the police and the community.
The South African Police Services Western Cape Excellence Awards not only serve as a platform to honour outstanding achievements but also highlight the dedication and hard work of those who strive to maintain law and order in the region.
