GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality has paid tribute to its firefighters following the celebration of International Firefighters’ Day (IFFD) on Monday 4 May.
Members of George Fire & Rescue Services were recognised not only by the municipality, but also by the community they serve.
In a touching show of appreciation, residents delivered care packs to firefighters, filled with hot coffee, sweets and other treats.
Among those showing their gratitude was a young community member who personally handed over the items.
The municipality said these acts of kindness serve as a reminder that firefighters are more than first responders. They are valued and respected members of the community.
George Municipality expressed its sincere appreciation to all firefighters for their courage, resilience and ongoing commitment to protecting lives and property.
