GEORGE NEWS - Young people in George who are interested in fashion, photography, modelling or the creative industries have an opportunity to develop their skills for free over the next few weeks.
The George Municipality Youth Office has invited young people between the ages of 12 and 26 to pre-register for a series of free skills development programmes presented as part of the Garden Route Fashion & Creative Expo 2026.
The training sessions will run from 30 September to 16 October at the George Museum, while the broader expo takes place from 29 September to 30 October.
Participants will be able to choose from practical and introductory sessions covering photography, modelling and the fashion industry, styling and wardrobe planning, fashion trend forecasting and visual communication.
Other programmes include upcycled knits, a basic crochet workshop, fashion and creative entrepreneurship, and a session titled Future in Fashion.
The Garden Route Fashion & Creative Expo is hosted by Reflekt Model Management's Development Division in partnership with the Elizabeth Galloway Academy of Fashion and a number of creative, educational and industry stakeholders.
The expo aims to bring young people, emerging creatives, students, graduates and industry professionals together while giving participants practical exposure to fashion, design and the broader creative sector.
In addition to skills development, the programme offers exhibitions, networking opportunities and exposure to people already working in the industry.
Attendance at the skills development sessions is free, but spaces are limited and pre-registration is required.
Once registration has been received, attendance and programme details will be confirmed via email.
Young people are encouraged to make use of this opportunity to gain practical skills, explore creative career pathways and connect with the fashion and creative industries.
