GEORGE NEWS - The former Mediclinic George and Mediclinic Geneva buildings are currently being marketed to interested buyers.
Mediclinic SA confirmed that some prospective buyers have had viewing opportunities that were arranged at the end of March, following continued discussions with developers and property brokers over the past two years.
To date, the company had not wanted to reveal its plans for these properties to the media, but in a talk at the Hawthorn Boutique Hotel last week, the Mediclinic Group's CEO, Dr Ronnie van der Merwe, hinted that they are on the market.
In response to a media enquiry, Mediclinic SA said the properties being marketed include specific sectional title units owned by the company within the GJ Lamprecht Medical Centre (Mediclinic George), rather than the entire building.
"These units are being sold individually due to the sectional title structure and the presence of multiple owners within the complex. The zoning of the various units within the Mediclinic George building complex is community zone III and business zone IV."
The Geneva property (corner of Herrie Street and Varing Avenue) is zoned community zone III and an adjacent building (sharing a border with CJ Langenhoven Road) business zone I, and will be sold together as full-title properties.
The corner property opposite the car dealership (community zone III) and an adjacent property (business zone I, located along CJ Langenhoven Street) will also be sold together as full title properties.
Furthermore, a single unit within a sectional title building (the Cancer Care property), situated opposite the main building in Gloucester Street, will be sold as a sectional title unit.
The company said there are no restrictions on the future use of the properties, but it reserves the right to accept or decline any offers received. It did not want to reveal the asking prices, but said the prices have been disclosed to the interested parties.
The two hospitals' big move to the new Mediclinic facility finally took place during the last few weeks.
The Geneva Clinic property consists of this main building plus a smaller linked property bordering on CJ Langenhoven Road.
The property on the corner of Herrie Street and CJ Langenhoven Road is part of Mediclinic’s properties on the market.
