GEORGE NEWS - One person has died following a collision between a double-cab bakkie and a sedan vehicle on the Outeniqua Pass this morning, Monday 26 January.
According to initial information, the deceased is believed to be the driver of the sedan.
All the injured patients involved in the crash were occupants of the sedan, while no injuries were reported from the bakkie.
Emergency services responded swiftly to the scene.
Two patients in critical condition were transported by Metro EMS, one seriously injured patient was taken by Frontier Medix, and one patient with moderate injuries was transported by ER24.
A fifth patient declined hospital transport.
A stop-and-go system was implemented while emergency personnel managed the scene and cleared the roadway.
Traffic flow has since been fully restored.
The exact cause of the accident has not yet been confirmed and is under investigation. A media enquiry has been sent to the relevant authorities and feedback is expected.
