GEORGE NEWS - A former law enforcer from George, Melvin Jacobs (41), and a woman, Liezel Stalmeester (23), were arrested in possession of a stash of drugs on Sunday 9 February on the N2 just outside George.
Capt Malcolm Pojie, Southern Cape police spokesperson, says the two were nabbed when a suspicious vehicle was spotted during a joint operation on the highway.
"The vehicle belongs to a well-known individual in drug circles. The car was pulled off, searched and 372g of tik with a street value of R120 000 was found under the seat. They were travelling from Port Elizabeth to George."
Four laptops were also found. The suspects appeared in the George Magistrate's Court on Monday
10 February on charges of drug dealing and possession of possibly stolen goods.
Stalmeester is out on bail of R5 000, while Jacobs remains in custody and will apply for bail on 21 February.
