GEORGE NEWS - George residents are rallying together to support families affected by the recent storms and flooding across the city.
Love George is urgently appealing for donations of blankets and soup ingredients for people currently being accommodated in churches and community halls throughout George.
Donations can be dropped off at Community Services, 11 Varing Street, George Central. Financial contributions can also be made to the Love Garden Route NPC account.
In addition, the Garden Route District Municipality Multi-Agency Command Centre is calling for broader community support through donations of:
- Plastic sheeting
- Single-bed sponge mattresses
- Non-perishable food items (canned and dry-packed food)
- Blankets
Items can be delivered to the Garden Route District Municipality Sub-office, located on Mission Street (next to the Railway Museum).
Delivery hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 07:30 – 16:30
- Friday: 07:30 – 13:30
