Remarking on the honour, an elated Executive Manager for Management Services, Clive Africa said, "Teamwork makes the dream work."
Eden was placed first overall for Biodiversity and Coastal Management; Waste Management and Air Quality Management.
The event was held to honour officials working in the environment and was like the 'Oscars for greenies'.
Overberg District was placed fourth overall; there was a joint second place between Cape Winelands and Cape West Coast and in first place overall was Eden District Municipality - the greenest municipality for the last two years running.
The prize money amounted to R120 000 and was awarded with a selection of trophies in recognition of this accolade.
