GEORGE NEWS - A fundraising drive for Tuiniqua Care Centre will give daredevils a chance to do an exhilarating tandem skydive for more than just the thrill.
The Tuiniqua Charity Skydive campaign will be held from 19 March to 19 April. The money raised will go towards the funding of critical upgrades in Tuiniqua's frail care unit.
"We are inviting the public to join us in this exciting fundraising effort. Tuiniqua is looking at various ways of raising much-needed funds for the centre. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to benefit from people's love of adventure and we thank Skydive Mossel Bay for their generosity," says Tuiniqua Manager Alani Voigt.
Participants will enjoy a scenic flight to 10 000 feet, taking in views of the Outeniqua Mountains and the beautiful Garden Route coastline, before leaping out to freefall at 220 km per hour for 35-40 seconds.
Once the parachute is open, the rest of the ride down is unforgettable with beautiful sights from 4 000 feet above the ground.
The price is R5 000 per person of which R1 000 will go towards Tuiniqua's frail care unit.
Participants will receive a handy-cam video, photos and a certificate of their tandem jump.
