GEORGE NEWS - Conquer Together, a local community of mountain enthusiasts, joined forces with Powervan George and George Trails to host a memorable event for 30 women on Saturday 9 August.
The day began at the Outeniqua Transport Museum with a great cup of coffee and an inspiring welcome from two guest speakers.
Former journalist and strategic communications leader Chantal Rutter Dros spoke about the power of women standing together, while Dr Joan von Wyngaard, founder of Vitant Skincare, reflected on how complementing each other’s strengths makes them unstoppable.
The women then boarded the iconic Powervan for a scenic ride up the Outeniqua Mountains. Their adventure included braving a tunnel filled with bats, sharing a mountain picnic, hiking to the cross, and descending to the Botanical Gardens. More than a physical challenge, the day was about connection -encouraging one another and embracing both the obstacles and the triumphs along the way.
Co-founder of Conquer Together, Elaine Fouché, described the event as truly inspiring, highlighting the courage and spirit of the women of George: “I’m constantly in awe of these incredible women - their strength, resilience, and ability to uplift one another.
"The day was a true celebration of courage, camaraderie, and the power of women coming together and proving the strength found in unity. Spending time together in the breathtaking Outeniqua Mountains leaves me energised and deeply grateful."
Conquer Together thanked the sponsors who made the day possible: Blitsdruk, Powervan George, Glow, Trail Kiosk, Vitant Skincare, Grobler & Graham Architects, SWEAT with Anneri, Tora Grace, Lovisa Life, Mountco, Studio@12, and South Magazine.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to George Trails to support ongoing trail maintenance, helping to keep these routes safe and accessible for future adventures.
