GEORGE NEWS - A cat survived a blazing house fire in Rosemoor on Sunday morning, 3 June. As soon as she learnt of the fire, Garden Route SPCA senior inspector Salome Bruyns deployed Vanessa Lucas, an SPCA field officer, to the house to check for any surviving animals.
On arrival, Lucas found the house had burned to the ground. A ginger kitten which had been rescued by people on the scene, had sustained severe burn wounds. Most of his hair and eyelashes were burnt off.
The cat was taken for immediate care at the SPCA, where a vet examined and treated him.
His treatment will take long and the hapless kitty will need ongoing attention at the SPCA. He is expected to make a full recovery with lots of love and medication.
Despite his injuries he still purrs and loves the attention he gets from the SPCA staff.
Donations for his treatment are welcome and can be made to: Garden Route SPCA, Standard Bank George, branch code 051001, account number 060823216, ref: "Gingie".
See a video of the little cat on the GR SPCA Facebook page.
