UNIONDALE NEWS - Residents of Ward 25, Uniondale, will head to the polls later this month, with the Electoral Commission confirming a by-election for the area on Wednesday 29 April.
Special vote applications for this rural town will be open from 13 to 17 April, allowing eligible voters who are unable to vote on election day to make alternative arrangements. Special voting is scheduled for 28 April.
To take part, residents must be registered voters. Registration requires a valid South African ID - either a green barcoded ID book, smart ID card or temporary ID certificate - as well as proof of residence within the voting district. South African citizens aged 16 and older may register, although only those 18 and above are eligible to vote.
Voting will take place at four voting stations: Lyonville Community Hall, Ezeljacht Primary School, Diepkloof Voorskool and Hartebeesrivier Primary School.
Four parties will contest the ward, with candidates Ruchiano Olyn (ANC), Jarques Esau (DA), Deon Leminie (EFF) and Zane Arends (PA) on the ballot.
Residents are encouraged to ensure they are registered and to take part in the electoral process.
