GEORGE NEWS - George Municipality reminds businesses in and around George that they can save on electricity during this lockdown period, especially those that are not operating from their premises. Business owners should check on electrical equipment such as pre-programmed air-conditioning and machines in standby mode that may still be using electricity while there is nobody in the office.
“We want to ensure they not incur unnecessary costs,” says municipal communications officer Athane Scholtz.
The municipality continues to incur cost from Eskom, even on unused premises, and will therefore still have to charge for it.
Business owners who go to check on electricity are asked to combine the trip with their other essential travel and observe all Covid-19 health and safety protocol.
