GEORGE NEWS - The George Police have opened an inquest docket after the body of an unidentified person was found in an advanced state of decomposition in an open field near the George Showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Southern Cape Police’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, the deceased has yet to be identified.

“The post-mortem report forms part of the ongoing investigation,” said Spies.

The body was discovered in an open field next to the showgrounds, near the R102, at about 16:45 on Saturday 29 August. The deceased was wearing black and blue denim clothing and a pair of brown shoes.
