GEORGE NEWS - The driver of a Honda motorcycle sustained serious injuries after a collision with a Nissan NP200 bakkie on the corner of Courtenay and Ironside streets in the CBD on Monday 25 April.

Police have confirmed that a case of reckless and negligent driving has been opened for investigation after the accident, which happened at about 12:20.

The motorcyclist was transported to hospital while the driver of the bakkie was seemingly not injured.

The accident has caused upset among business owners in the area who seem to think that the number of accidents at this corner has increased.

"This is not the first or the last time this year and it has gotten worse. Motorists get impatient with constant oncoming traffic and pull away when it's unsafe. We really would like to see more traffic officers here. Especially during peak hours of the day," said one of the nearby business owners.

The condition of the injured motorcyclist could not be confirmed at this time.
