GEORGE NEWS AND VIDEO - The Wilderness Hotel is entering an exciting new era under new management following an agreement struck between the owners of the hotel and ANEW Hotels & Resorts, a group that runs 17 hotel and resort properties in South Africa.
Albert Wiffen, a director of the hotel, said they are excited.
"Their taking over the management involves renewing and upgrading of the hotel, and hopefully an increase in visitor numbers.
"We were approached by ANEW because they were looking for a footprint in the Garden Route."
ANEW did not want to comment at this stage.
The Wildernes Hotel was first opened in 1928 and is very much part of local history.
A large section was destroyed by a fire in the middle 80s, but it was rebuilt and has since changed hands a few times.
The hotel underwent renovations when Wiffen became co-owner in 2015.
