Directly after the meeting, the Executive Mayor, Alderlady Marie Ferreira, issued the following press statement:
"The resignation of the Municipal Manager, Dr Michele Gratz, and my subsequent request that she should vacate her office with immediate effect has unfortunately resulted in much speculation in the media as well as on social media recently.
"This is unfortunate in that my decision was prompted by the operational needs of the Municipality and in particular the need to appoint an acting Municipal Manager who will be available to ensure the smooth transition post the Local Government Elections in August 2016 when a new Municipal Manager will be appointed.
