GEORGE NEWS - Driving schools in George say their businesses are affected by long waiting times for appointments for driving tests and learner's licence exams at the George Traffic Department.
Many Georgians choose to go to nearby municipalities to get these done.
George Herald asked our readers to tell us about their experience of trying to get an appointment for a driving or learner's licence test.
Rosalind van Graan Stockigt: "We had to wait 5 months for a date for a learner's in George for my son, but this is not a new problem, 3 years ago it was just as bad and my eldest son went to do his learner's in Oudtshoorn. I would also like to know why we cannot book these appointments online like most of the country?"
Taron Nolte: "My husband chose to drive to Swellendam to do his truck license."
Kelly Tafs Masiiwa: "6 months waiting time for learner's test. How is that possible? Went to book last October, was told available date is April. Then wanted to rebook and was told available date is October. How is it that there is a sequence of 6 months every time one has to book?"
Jean Visser: "Both my daughters wrote their learner's in Plettenberg Bay and licence in Oudtshoorn. Waiting period in George is just crazy and they are losing out on good revenue."
Khonana Ntshanga: "The waiting period is way too long, I had to go to Oudtshoorn for learner's. I didn't wait even up to a month compared to the 4 months I was given here in George. I think they should rather close down, so we can know we have none here on George."
Belinda Antonio: "Why not do learner's at schools? In Joburg they're doing it."
