NATIONAL NEWS - The electricity grid remains on the back foot, with Eskom spokesperson Khulu Phasiwe warning on Tuesday morning that people should only be using their essential appliances to reduce strain on the power system.
Power-heavy devices such as geysers should preferably be switched off.
Eskom was also close to implementing load shedding on Monday, but managed to avoid this. They said they would only start rotational cuts if absolutely necessary.
The state capture commission continues to hear testimony on how the power utility was reduced to a shadow of its true potential.
