GEORGE NEWS - Not everyone knows of organ donation or are comfortable with it. To some people it is unthinkable to bury their loved one without all their body parts and tissue, but to others those body parts are treasures that can save their life.
This is how the family of Larisca Radue (19), a former Georgian who now lives in Port Elizabeth, feels. Larisca was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in 2010, and spent almost six months in hospital.
"These days not a month goes by when she does not spend at least a week in hospital," says her dad, Craig Radue.
He wants to make people aware of organ donation and the fact that it really does save lives.
When he spoke to George Herald, Larisca was in ICU in the Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth, waiting to go to a hospital in Cape Town for intravenous treatment. She is waiting to undergo a double lung transplant.
