GEORGE NEWS - The George Garden and Lifestyle Expo will take place at the Garden Route Botanical Garden this weekend with a packed programme of workshops, talks and family activities.
The event opens on Friday 26 September and runs until Sunday the 28th. It is a three-day celebration of Garden Route biodiversity, home gardening, sustainable living and community creativity.
The aim is to inspire and educate attendees about sustainability, biodiversity and environmental stewardship through workshops, family-friendly activities, vendor stalls and expert involvement.
Highlights include the clivia show and judging, a botanical garden welcoming, organic gardening talks, birds of prey demonstrations and dog-friendly guided walks.
Workshops on offer range from terrariums, wild fermented sodas, seed saving and indigenous tincture making to Chinese penjing, essential oils and land art.
Live music performances by Dough Bean and Christoff Beukes will add to the relaxed atmosphere.
Saturday's programme includes kids' yoga, a clivia collectors' auction and the Wonder World of Clivias presentation.
On Sunday, the event closes with a landscape awards ceremony and gratitude gathering.
Gates open at 09:00 and close at 16:00 on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday's programme ends at 14:00. Day passes cost R100, weekend passes R250 and children under 13 enter free. Workshop fees vary.
