GEORGE NEWS - A girl from George can thank her lucky stars after an unknown hero saved her from a cellphone thief last Thursday 27 September. Cira Meyer, a learner at Outeniqua High School, was walking home from school shortly after 14:00 when a man grabbed her phone.
A man who saw it happening, gave chase.
"The man managed to catch the cellphone thief, forced him to the ground and took back Cira's phone," said the girl's mother, Bernice. "After checking that Cira was okay our hero of the day left. Unfortunately she didn't take his name or contact details so we would love to thank him through the George Herald."
The suspect managed to escape the man's grasp when he struggled for the phone, making off towards the bridge in the direction of Van Kervel School.
