GEORGE NEWS - The Southern Cape Community Forum (Socacof) invites all private security workers to a meeting to be held at 10:00 on 19 November at Fourway Stop in Thembalethu.
The following issues will be discussed:
- the meeting of 29 May 2017 with the Labour Department;
- the three-day labour roadshow held from 20 to 22 June 2017;
- evidence sent to the provincial media communications section of the Labour Department on 11 May 2017;
- the new sectoral determination;
- new minimum wage (provincial);
- new hourly rate;
- monthly government premium wage (provincial);
- next year's minimum wage (national); late payments (pay queries and non-issuing of payslips);
- transport and other illegal deductions;
- a monthly duty roster;
- Psira as the regulator and the Labour Department as the workers' advocate and their failure to protect poor workers.
More information will also be given on registration for and other aspects of the following:
- Provident fund - contributions (risk allowance and funeral scheme);
- Labour Department - UIF and Sars incentives;
- and the Compensation Fund (Coida).
- Resolutions will be made on the way forward.
