GEORGE NEWS - A strike by some essential workers of the George Municipality which started last week Thursday is still ongoing.
According to municipal spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose, the reason for the strike action is unknown and it is being addressed internally. The municipality noted the strike with “dismay and concern”.
Due to the strike certain sewerage services, as well as refuse collection, have been affected.
“The public is kindly requested to be patient with responses to complaints that directly relate to sewerage services. Refuse collection has also been affected and the municipality asks those areas due to be collected today to please take their black bags in again,” said Edwards-Klose.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and ask for the public’s patience while the matter is addressed internally and all efforts are being made to resume services. Updates will be issued as soon as available.”
