Although the Planning and Development offices in the main municipal building remain closed to the public, you can make an appointment or obtain the e-mail address of the relevant staff member you want to connect with.

Online land use applications
The department has launched an internet-based land use application system to enable the electronic submission and processing of land use applications.
The necessary documents and detailed instructions are available in the Documents section on the George Municipality website.
All administrative officers are now available and can be contacted to follow up on the status of all land use applications and/or outstanding information as follows:
- Primrose Nako pnako@george.gov.za | 044 801 9416 for all erven ending with an even number (i.e. 0, 2, 4, 6, 8);
- Marissa Arries marries@george.gov.za | 044 801 9473 for erven ending with an odd number (i.e. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9);
- Marina Welman mhwelman@george.gov.za | 044 801 9171) for farm numbers (farm no./portion no).
The public should note that registered mail will not be used to notify surrounding neighbours of applications. Instead, the applicant will be required to place an A2 (or 2 x A3) size notice on the street boundary of their property in a position that is visible to passing traffic for a period of 30 days. Notice of the application will also be displayed on the George Municipality’s website, social media pages and the municipal app.

The municipal app can be used to log land use application queries and illegal land use complaints.
