GEORGE NEWS - Fresh mountain air and breathtaking backdrops of natural landscapes are yours to enjoy at this year's Hoekwil Open Gardens, on Saturday and Sunday, 7 and 8 November, between 09:00 and 16:00.
Lew Geffen Sotheby's International Realty is once again proud to sponsor this popular event, which will be a mini version of previous years, showcasing just four unique and spectacular gardens.
These gardens showcase country living at its best! An indigenous garden, with a 15-year old forest comprising 4 000 trees, also features a 1,2km labyrinth, ponds, a natural pool, a succulent section and a bonsai garden. Fifty-year old trees stand tall protecting swathes of roses, striking mass planting and colourful displays of a variety of shade-loving plants.
A flowering fantasy awaits you where a previously fire-ravaged hillside has been transformed into a spectacular vista of varied plantings - there are surprises around every corner! A modern version of fruit and veggie gardening, as well as a mostly indigenous park-like garden, has been cleverly designed within the forest.
This year's event will take place with responsible adherence to Covid-19 protocol.
Tickets and route maps will be available on the days from the kiosk outside the Hoekwil Post Office in Church Street. Entrance is R50 per person (children free) for both days and proceeds will go towards Alzheimer Southern Cape.
