GEORGE NEWS - Two senior positions in George Municipality have been filled temporarily. 

Godfrey Louw, a former municipal manager of Eden District Municipality (now the Garden Route District Municipality), was appointed as Deputy Director Admin and Corporate Services; and Vernon Pietersen, former senior manager of Public Safety for Drakenstein Municipality (Paarl), was appointed as head of George Traffic Department.

Asked for confirmation of the two appointments, municipal spokesperson Chantel Edwards-Klose said as George Municipality is committed to an efficient administration, it has identified staffing challenges within certain directorates which were affecting service delivery negatively.

"Two highly skilled, experienced individuals have been appointed on a temporary basis to address the shortages identified.

"No further comment will be provided in line with our policy of not discussing personnel-related matters."
