GEORGE NEWS - A 47-year-old man from Pacaltsdorp will appear in the George Magistrate’s Court today (Monday 4 March) in connection with his wife’s murder.
According to the police the murder occurred on Saturday 2 March at about 21:00 at the couple’s house in Sierrissie Street, New Dawn Park.
Captain Malcolm Pojie, the Southern Cape police spokesperson, said the preliminary investigation reveals that the suspect and his wife (43) were sitting in their yard when an argument broke out between the two.
“Witness reports suggest that the suspect took a cement lintel and hit his wife on the head causing her to fall down on the ground. She sustained an open wound to the left side of her head. It is believed that this fatal blow caused her death, instantly. Paramedics attended to the scene rapidly and declared her dead,” said Pojie.
An autopsy will be performed on the body of the deceased this week to determine the exact cause of death.
